Rachel
Owner-Operator
Rachel is the owner of Q and works full time in the shop. She doesn't work the counter much but is usually bustling in the kitchen, trying to keep up with social media, or buried in admin work. She loves the endless creativity of baking and spends a lot of time thinking of new menu items and recipe testing them. Outside of running the business, she is run aground by her toddler.

Brian
General Manager
Brian (BG) is a veteran in the food and bev industry. He previously worked as the bar manager at Wax Bar and Ollie Food and Spirits and as the executive chef at Corner Brewery. He’s our resident punk dude, always quirky, positive, and personable. He is a wizard in the kitchen, the mastermind behind all the lunch and brunch specials. He only eats one meal per day and loves ice cream, pizza, yogurt, and White Claw.

Elyse
Pastry Chef
Elyse has worked at several restaurants and most recently was the pastry chef at Blue Llama Jazz Club and Of Rice and Men where she got extensive training in fine dining-style pastry. She is the queen of making extra fluffy cinnamon rolls, jams, and those chili crisp scones you love. She is also the brains behind all of the tarts we have on rotation. She loves playing tennis, creating extensive playlists, and watching basketball!

Matthew
Head Bakery Assistant
Matt is a native Ann Arborite and you will often run into him meandering around town on his bike. He is a DJ (MKO) and a freelance 3D generalist, but in the kitchen he is the “bread man.” Thousands of milk bread buns are made by his hands and those perfectly pleated breakfast galettes are thanks to him as well. Ask him about video games or about his amazing trips to Japan.

Maggie
Bakery Assistant
Maggie goes way back as an employee of Milk + Honey (the business before it was Q). She works part time as a nurse for her “day job" and full time as a toddler mom. She is the scaling master, helping with a ton of prep early on in the week to set us up for success. Her favorite pastry is our veg breakfast galette! Nature, quality time with loved ones, crafting, biking, and learning new things bring her joy.

Kara
Bakery Assistant
Kara is a recent culinary school grad so we expect her to know everything (jk). She is our dumpling pleating afficionado and makes sure our knives are sharp. She helps out with everything in the kitchen but is mostly on savory duty. Her baby consistently tries to take her out of the kitchen with colds and infections (thanks, daycare) but she won't let them stop her!

Storefront Assistant
Hawa is the gal you likely see the most, working our counter from Thursday-Sunday each week! She is our exclusive storefront person and makes sure everyone gets the pastries and products they want.

Allison
Bakery Assistant
Allison is a senior at the University of Michigan studying business. In her free time, she loves to read, drink tea, and write (most recently blogging on Black Sesame Bites). She helps out with all things baking from rice krispies to cakes and milk bread. Her favorite thing to make is cake (she could eat cake everyday) and she's currently obsessed with black sesame — an obsession that doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon.

Bakery Assistant
Ethan is an Ann Arbor local, UMich grad, and software-engineer-turned-baker! You'll often find him working the counter on Wednesdays. His favorite thing at the shop is our mochi bites and filter coffee from our friends at Strider. In his free time, you can find him climbing at Planet Rock, enjoying local eats, or playing tennis with friends.

Bakery Assistant
Laura comes from a longtime BOH manager position at Zingerman's Deli (19 years!) and has a passion for people, process improvement, and great food. She is a super-eager-under-qualified home DIYer (ask her about restoring doors!) and competes in olympic weightlifting. She helps out with all the things and her favorite item is the breakfast galette! Outside of work you'll find her walking her adorable dog, Carly.
